street science: musica urbana dominicana

January 19, 2011

so much science

the next episode of street science is tonight at 10pm on washington heights free radio.

claire and i are going to be checking out musica urbana with dominican roots–mostly dembow and mambo violento.    good primers on dembow can be found here and here and for an introduction to mambo/merengue de la calle you can head over to unfashionably late.  paul devro also dropped a satisfying lil pack of new tunes over at mad decent in november.  i’m pretty sure this is gonna make us better new yorkers.

basically if jose reyes is down, i’m down.

sujeto oro “oro 24kt”

pablo piddy, “si tu quiere dembow”
