My grandma is here visiting from Pasto. The other day we were decorating the Christmas tree at my aunt’s house, and I think since my grandma is here, instead of listening to regular Christmas music, my aunt dug out this awesome Colombian Christmas album of traditional villancicos.

In the city of Pasto (as I am sure throughout smaller cities in Colombia and Latin America), for days before Christmas, the little boys dress up as little shepherds, and the little girls as little Virgin Marys, and everyone goes to church, and then people meet up at the local neighborhood nativity scene and sing songs like these.

These are my favorite villancicos right now:

Los Niños Cantores De Navidad, “Tutaina” ゲット [DL]

Los Niños Cantores De Navidad, “A Belén Pastores” ゲット [DL]

Los Niños Cantores De Navidad, “El Burrito de Belén” ゲット [DL]
